For your AIRHAWK Pro Comfort Seating System to be effective it must be properly adjusted.

Here’s a step by step guide to achieving the best pressure for you.

Step One:
Push the green knob on the valve to the ‘IN’ position.

Step Two:
Turn the valve counter clockwise to open.

Step Three:
Add air using the pump until all of the cells of the cushion are visibly filled. Do not over inflate!!!

Step Four:
Turn the valve clockwise to close.

Step Five:
Place the AIRHAWK Pro Cushion on your seat with the ISOFLO Memory Control to the right side (when you’re seated).

Step Six:
Sit on the AIRHAWK Pro Cushion in your normal seated position and remain as still as possible.

Step Seven:
Remaining still, open the valve to adjust the air in the cushion. Release enough air until you sink down into the cushion. Your goal is to allow yourself to sink as deeply as possible into the cushion without hitting the bottom. This is achieved by having as little air in your cushion as possible. The ideal inflation is about 1.5cm (half an inch) off the seat. If you feel the seat through the cushion then add more air again – then re-adjust.

Step Eight:
Turn the valve clockwise to close.

Step Nine:
If you feel too much pressure under your legs, push down on the front of the cushion, forcing air out of the front of the cushion and into the back.

Step Ten:
Push the red knob on the cushion to the ‘IN’ position.

Please note:
It may require one or two days of sitting on your AIRHAWK Pro while driving to notice a difference in comfort. As you drive, you may find that your cushion needs to be re-adjusted to provide a more comfortable fit. Experiment with air inflation levels to find the most appropriate fit for your needs. And remember that the best adjustment is achieved while you are sitting on the cushion.

Back in 1973, Robert H. Graebe created ROHO Inc. – the answer to prayers from all the people who have ever suffered from sitting too long in a chair, driver’s seat, or aviation cockpit.

Graebe was originally an electrical engineer who, while working on a project for a hospital, developed a interest in helping to heal pressures sores (ischemic ulcers). This interest became an obsession that led to intense research, and the final development of the ROHO Dry Floatation Technology. The medical cushions and mattresses with the Dry Floatation Technology were tested in numerous clinical studies and the results were very positive. It has been proven that Graebe’s invention assists in effectively healing as well as preventing pressure sores. And that’s where the genius lies: The Dry Floatation Technology mimics the properties of water, in a dry, air-fluid environment.

Now, while the medical industry may have been the main group to benefit when it came to the Dry Floatation Comfort, but in 1997 motorcyclists were in for a treat when ROHO’s technology was added to the AIRHAWK Motorcycle Cushion. Motorcyclists all over the world shared a love for the AIRHAWK Cushion as it provided superior rider comfort and enhanced blood flow.

In 1998, Truck Drivers joined the AIRHAWK Fan Club when the AIRHAWK Truck Cushion was released. It became the popular choice for long-haul transportation and other heavy equipment useage, as it increased comfort while reducing lower back pain. Soon machine operators in the mining industry began adding the AIRHAWK Cushion to their business Christmas Wish Lists.

But the AIRHAWK Cushions Phenomenon hasn’t ended there. There are now Office Chair Cushions, Motor Vehicle Cushions, and Aviation Cushions. ROHO has created a world of comfort with their shape fitting technology.

“The AIRHAWK Cushion is great! I no longer get a numb a**e from long hours in the seat. The AIRHAWK prevents me getting bounced around and reduces back strain when twisting or turning on the seat. I didn’t realize how hard the fatory air-ride seats really are until I made the comparison. It’s easy to set the air pressure, just set and forget.”
Adrian Johnstone, CAT 988H Front End Loader Driver, Whyalla, South Australia

So why are AIRHAWK Cushions becoming the popular choice for not only motorcycle riders, car drivers, truck drivers, pilots, but also workers of Mining Equipment?

Computer Pressure Mapping tests found that the AIRHAWK’S DRY FLOATATION® technology eliminates painful pressure points and promotes consistent blood flow for longer. Memory foam can’t do it. Gel seats can’t do it. Only genuine AirHawk does it.

The red and yellow areas show painful pressure points that cause suffering while seated on a Foam Cushion. The Multi-Cell Air Cushion of the AIRHAWK however significantly reduces pressure, keeping the person more comfortable.

In the offshore Oil & Gas Industry we are being faced with longer flying legs due to the distances being traveled and vibration a major factor. The main benefits of the AIRHAWK Comfort Seating System to me are the reduction of vibration, fatigue and lower back stress. The AIRHAWK makes a 6 hour flying day a lot more tolerable and leaves me feeling fresher when I’m finished. I thoroughly recommend it for any pilot who has to spend long periods in a cockpit unable to get out of the seat for a stretch.”

As a Pilot you’re sure to have experienced the back ache heavily associated with flying. Helicopters seem to be notorious, and if you ask any Helicopter Pilot if they’ve ever experienced a numb bum or back ache during flight, the response is sure to be a resounding “Oh! Yeah!” quite often followed by, “But not just during – after… for hours!”

According to the research published by the Defense Technical Information Center on discomfort experienced by Pilots of the CH113 Labrador Helicopter backache “is usually a dull pain in the lumbar area, most often experienced during flight and usually lasting after the mission ends.” Researchers also discovered that these Pilot’s pain was much the same as Pilots flying any other Helicopter (both defense and civilian). Based on the symptoms and causes identified by investigators, the need for improved seating incorporating an inflatable lumbar support and a more “effective load bearing seat cushion” are needed.

Basically the problem is that the average Pilot’s seat fails to provide the appropriate pressure distribution where you make contact with the seat. This results in cutting off blood supply to the buttocks and legs, and leading to numbness and circulatory problems. But the challenges don’t end there…

Helicopters and all other motorised aircraft that take to the air have several ‘body stressing’ characteristics. One in particular that leads to fatigue and long-term ill effects on the body is vibration. The constant vibration of the aircraft fights against your body’s natural instinct to find stability. Indeed, everytime you sit in the cockpit, you receive a workout that affects your muscles and skeletal system.

So not only are buttocks and legs experiencing pressure on set points, the current Pilot seating allows the vibration to travel beyond the numb parts of the body and up through the spine. So now your spine is what is working overtime to support that natural instinct for stability.

AIRHAWK’S unique pressure distribution system has found the answer to the need for effective load bearing. It absorbs the shock that would normally travel up your spine, and alleviates the pressure that creates numbness in legs and buttocks.

The adjustable air inflation of the multiple cells within the AIRHAWK Cushion provide a custom fit to your personal contour for every flight. And the cushion is easy to transport. You simply take it with you, quickly and easily securing it to your Pilot or CoPilot Seat for each flight. The open mesh side panels allows air to circulate through the individual air cells creating extra ventilation and reducing heat build-up.

The AIRHAWK Truck Seat Cushion is fast becoming the popular choice for Truck Drivers to help reduce neck ache, back strain, and fatigue. And when you consider the statistics for road accidents that involve trucks and fatigue, no wonder.

Not only does fatigue come about from mental strain of focusing for long periods of time, it also comes from the body being bombarded with external stimuli and then trying to adjust to maintain ‘the norm’. For example, long hours behind the wheel over differing terrain puts stress on the body through vibration, and adds to fatigue.

Often Truck Drivers who sit behind the wheel for long hours experience numbness in their lower back, legs and bottom. We generally refer to this as the ‘numb bum’ syndrome. As the body once again adjusts (whether through moving around to relieve the numbness) or the body unconsciously redirecting pressure to other parts of the body to attempt to avoid damage, this further leads to fatigue. Added to this is the distraction that discomfort causes, taking valuable focus away from the job at hand.

The AIRHAWK Truck Seat Cushion works to absorb shock and vibration reducing numbness, pain and physical stress which contributes to reducing mental fatigue as well.

Other Truck Cushions do effectively absorb shock and vibration, but fail to re-distribute the driver’s weight comfortably across the seating system, reducing pressure. This leads to ‘numb bum’ as blood flow is restricted, again contributing to fatigue and pain throughout other areas of the body. AIRHAWK’S ability to reduce pressure has been known to relieve the discomfit of sciatic nerve irritation and hemorrhoids. You can inflate the cushion to your desired air pressure, giving you a ‘customised’ seat perfect for your own unique body shape.

The AIRHAWK Truck Cushion comes with a handy attachment system to secure it to your seat, and the cushion cover is easy to clean and helps to reduce that ’sticky sweaty’ feeling when getting in and out of your seat. Each AIRHAWK Truck Seating System also comes with a pump for quick easy inflation.
